バスレジャーオクウチ / Bus Leisure Okuuchi

Bus Leisure Okuuchi is an abandoned hotel in Awaji Island, Hyogo. It is located in front of World Piece Giant Kannon which was built in 1982 by a founder of Okuuchi group out of his own pocket. The Kannon was being demolished at the time of my visit.

There are many stories about the Kannon on internet but almost none about the abandoned hotel. It looked forgotten and hidden behind a huge tree and bushes.

A quite strange thing about the place was that there were loads of dead birds inside. I usually encounter a live one inside abandoned buildings but never a dead one. My guess is that unlike most places the windows were intact there, making it almost impossible for birds to get out if they wandered in.

バスレジャーオクウチは淡路島の世界平和大観音の目の前にある廃宿泊施設です。大観音は1982年にオクウチグループの創始者が私財を投じて建てたようですが、訪問時には解体作業が行われていました。大観音についてはネット上でニュースにもなっていたりするのですがバスレジャーオクウチについては殆ど情報がありません。大通りからも少し奥まったところにあり、入り口は草木に覆われ、完全に忘れ去られているようでした。

この廃墟で一番印象的だったのが鳥の死骸がたくさんあったことです。廃墟では急に羽ばたいた鳥に驚かされることがよくあるのですが、死んだ鳥を見たのは初めてな気がします。恐らく他の廃墟と違って窓が破壊されていないため、迷い込んだ鳥が外に出られずに餓死してしまったのだと思います。
